pink arrows dress

This Cynthia Rowley for Simplicity Patterns dress was good practice in gathering. I loved sewing it with this peachy pink arrow fabric from Cotton and Steel. The v-neck on the pattern was too low for me, hence the additional red parabola swatch I sewed in. This dress has a side zipper (mine was a fun aqua) and pockets, both of which I like, but which were challenging together. The sleeves also looked insane when I first put them in. I think the pattern picture must be showing flowier fabric; mine just looked enormous. My wonderful sewing teacher figured out that we could put in box pleats to make the sleeves cute instead of menacing.
